I just can’t seem to put into words what is really going on out here in SoCal. Every time I turn on my television and see how “Mother Nature” is really giving it to us, I realize I’ve never wanted to be a fireman as badly as today. With so many friends and family in coastal Los Angeles and San Diego areas who have been evacuated or packed and waiting, I wish there was more we could do.

October 24, 2007- Calmer, cooler breezes have replaced the Santa Ana winds that fueled the wildfires, allowing firefighters to bring a few of the blazes under control. Officials are allowing some evacuees to return to their homes, but fires still threaten thousands of houses and businesses, and latest reports indicate that none of the blazes is more than 50 percent contained. Overall, the wildfires have destroyed approximately 17,000 structuresfrom storage sheds to businesses and luxury homesand torched an area of some 600 square miles.
