Virgin Galatic has just announced its new spaceships, White Knight Two and SpaceShipTwo. Virgin is currently on track to commercial flights, into space, by 2009. Of course, this is a rich mans dream, averaging $200K per seat, but if I had the money to spend, to view Earth unlike ever before, I would be all over this.
The ship is built to hold six adults and two pilots, totaling eight people. SpaceShipTwo is the ship actually going into space, while White Knight Two is the booster plane, launching SpaceShipTwo into the darkness of space. The White Knight Two is believed to be almost complete and set to start testing later this year, while SpaceShipTwo is only around 60%. Both planes will base in the New Mexico desert, where Virgin is building a SpacePort.
