Today we have a sick “Artist Feature”, one of my personal favorites and a someone I crossed paths with sometime ago. Let’s jump right back into it….
Nod Young, born and raised in Northeastern China, seven years ago Nod gave up a factory job to move to Beijing and pursue his dream to incorporate art into his life.
Today Nod is the Creative Director and Co-Founder of his own creative group, Khaki Creative & Design. With a home-base in Beijing, China, Khaki Creative focuses on creative branding services for clients in China, the US, and the UK as they look to explore the rest of the world.
Here is one of many design series that Nod gets down on, paying respect to the old skool and mixing some new flavor.
This work is called: “Paper Cut”
Paper cutting is a traditional art in China which has been making its way along the route of the long history of paper. The kind of art went after the invention of paper in Han Dynasty, once became one of the main form of arts, and was popular to the people of the time. The main tool for papercut is scissors. Once they are owned by a master of papercut, they will become so supernatural that the papercuts beyond imagination flow out of his/her hands in the chattering of a common pair of scissors. Another tool for paper cutting is engraving knives which are necessary to enhance a sharpened effect or to make a delicate job.
